In the morning, assemble at your hotel to take the pre-arranged shuttle to the Pemberton Train Station, where you will board the Rocky Mountaineer train for your journey to the charming rural town of Quesnel, the gateway to the North Cariboo region.
Today’s route showcases a breathtaking diversity of landscapes: from the lush farmland and river valleys of the Pemberton Valley, through the near desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon, and finally onto the rolling hills and vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. Throughout the day, your Rocky Mountaineer onboard guide will provide detailed commentary on the history of the 19th Century Gold Rush—a period of dreams and instant fortunes that shaped British Columbia.

- Mount Robson: The ultimate emblem of the Canadian Rockies, standing at 3,954 meters (12,972 feet) —the highest peak in the range. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Robson is a museum of natural ecology, boasting a magnificent landscape interwoven with glaciers, alpine lakes, and waterfalls. It is the starting point of the renowned Berg Lake Trail and a primal sanctuary for wildlife like marmots and mountain goats.
- Pyramid Falls: This natural wonder is formed as the glacier-fed Pyramid Creek plunges over a sheer drop and merges into the Thompson River, creating a distinctive, fan-shaped cascade that resembles a pyramid. Although the surrounding ecological reserve remains closed, the train offers a clear view of the falls as they dramatically descend beneath the tracks. Its massive water curtain is particularly spectacular during the winter or high-volume seasons.
- Yellowhead Pass: A historically significant mountain pass in the Canadian Rockies, marking the boundary between Alberta and British Columbia and serving as a key western entrance to Jasper National Park. The pass is named after Pierre Bostonais, a fur trader known for his distinctive yellow hair, leading to the lasting name "Yellowhead."
